Queen Creek celebrates volunteers

The town’s centralized QC Volunteers program shows commitment to providing opportunities for volunteers to use and develop new skills, train and provide necessary oversight, and provide the applicable information, equipment and materials to do the task. The town is also committed to providing a safe, positive and friendly environment, while providing recognition and appreciation for volunteers’ service.

April 21-27 was proclaimed Volunteer Appreciation Week, an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the volunteers who dedicate their time and efforts. In 2023, volunteers contributed more than 91,000 hours of service to the community, which is a benefit to taxpayers of $2.9 million in savings.

“Volunteers help build and strengthen our sense of community,” said Queen Creek Mayor Julia Wheatley. “We are fortunate to have so many individuals contributing their time, talents and knowledge. In the first official year of our volunteer program, more than 1,400 people stepped up and volunteered their time. The council and I are so incredibly grateful for our amazing community of volunteers – thank you for making Queen Creek such a great place to live, work and play.”

The town’s centralized QC Volunteers program includes one place for all town volunteer opportunities, a primary point of contact, background screenings for applicable positions and options for volunteers to provide feedback.

Through the program, the town is committed to providing opportunities for volunteers to use and develop new skills, train and provide necessary oversight, and provide the applicable information, equipment and materials to do the task. The town is also committed to providing a safe, positive and friendly environment, while providing recognition and appreciation for volunteers’ service.

Current volunteer opportunities include assisting with community events, guest services and parking attendants at Horseshoe Park and Equestrian Centre, helping with the weekly Senior Program and providing smoke detector services through the Fire and Medical Department’s Community Assistance Team. To view more information about the various opportunities and to get involved, visit QueenCreekAZ.gov/Volunteer.
