Valley resident donates thousands of sensory toys to QCPD

Chief Randy Brice was so impressed after hearing how successful these simple tools were during crisis calls involving children and individuals with special needs, he decided to create sensory item kits for every officer and detective at QCPD.

The Queen Creek Police Department (QCPD) said they are thankful to Valley resident Patty Schranz, who recently donated thousands of fidget toys to the department.

Schranz said she was inspired after watching news coverage of QCPD officers carrying sensory toys to help during crisis calls involving special needs individuals.

The idea came from Officer Rachel DeLa Torre, who initially bought the sensory toys for her own child and saw firsthand the difference it made in calming him down and helping him stay focused.

"We are so grateful for your donation, Patty," said QCPD officials. "These items will be put to good use!"
