QCFMD: National Fire Prevention Week Oct. 9-15

This year’s campaign works to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe. Celebrating the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week, this year's campaign is “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape." They want to educate everyone about simple but important actions one can take to keep themselves and those around them safe from home fires.

The Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department (QCFMD) is joining forces with the National Fire Protection Association to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape” during National Fire Prevention Week Oct. 9-15. 

This year’s campaign works to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe. Celebrating the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week, this year's campaign is “Fire won’t wait. "Today’s homes burn faster than ever. You may have as little as two minutes (or even less time) to safely escape a home fire from the time the smoke alarm sounds. Your ability to get out of a home during a fire depends on early warning from smoke alarms and advance planning," states the campaign.

Visit fpw.org to learn more. There you'll find tip sheets for everything from escaping a single-family home to an apartment building and a college dorm to a hotel. Materials include tip sheets, escape plans and smoke alarm safety precautions to review and implement with your family. Education materials are also available for all ages to educate them on fire safety because "Fire won't wait. Plan your escape."
