Distracted driver charged after crashing into San Tan Valley home

The sheriff's office said the driver will be charged with speeding, reckless driving, criminal damage and endangerment. 

An 18-year-old is facing charges after allegedly crashing into a home in San Tan Valley last night, Dec. 7. 

According to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash, was "looking down and smoking a vape pen" before crashing into the home, located at north Zampino Street. 

Officials reported that the homeowner and two children were home at the time of the collision, however, none of the occupants were injured. 

Reports state that both the driver, 18, and passenger, 19, of the vehicle were uninjured. 

The driver reported that he was going 30 to 40 miles per hour before the collision. 

The sheriff's office said the driver will be charged with speeding, reckless driving, criminal damage and endangerment.
