Queen Creek Public Safety Day a success

"We had a steady crowd, at least 800 to 900 residents come out to meet with us. It was a good event," said Police Chief Randy Brice.

On Jan. 8, the Queen Creek Police Department (QCPD) and the Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department met with the residents they protect and serve at the town's Public Safety Day.

"We had a steady crowd, at least 800 to 900 residents come out to meet with us. It was a good event," said Police Chief Randy Brice. "I never left the same spot and talked to people the entire time. It really was a good chance for the community to connect with officers one more time before we took over service. It was their last moment with us before we hit the streets and for us to engage the community and find out what the people want. The key to our success to this date has been that we're all about the community."

The free event in the parking lots of Fire Station 1 and the Law Enforcement and Community Chambers Building, 20727 Civic Parkway, allowed attendees the opportunity to meet officers and firefighters, enjoy fun activities and check out Queen Creek's public safety equipment and vehicles. Free coffee from Starbucks and donuts from Walmart were provided.

Queen Creek police officers officially hit the streets on Jan. 11 at midnight.
