Rosalyn M Baird, of Mesa, AZ was a caring Mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend to all who met her.

She left this world peacefully to be with the Lord on February 9th, 2023, at a youthful 94 years of age. Her spirit for life and perpetual unwavering optimism established her legacy as a “mom to many” and as a role model in the community. Rosalyn was an advocate and lifelong worker in the field of education. She received her Associates degree in 1971 from Mesa Community College and went on to earn her Bachelors Degree from Arizona State University in 1973.

Her passion was working in Special Education, which she did for 15 years before retiring in 1990.  After retirement she continued to help as a substitute teacher for the next decade. Grandma Rosalyn, as many knew her in her later years, loved spending time with her grandchildren by helping out with homework and taking them out to eat.

In recent years, she enjoyed visits and phone calls from friends and family. She spent her free time reading mystery books, working on crossword puzzles, and drinking her Starbucks iced Frappuccino’s. Rosalyn is survived by her three children, Amy Slinkard Vestal, Jackie Slinkard, and Lynne Shillingburg (Mike), and 23 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eldest son Bobby. A funeral service is scheduled for March 3rd, 2023, at 2pm. Services will take place at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery on Main St and Sossaman Rd in Mesa followed by a family dinner at Nando’s.
