EVIT to offer new associate degree in registered nursing

Program will train students to become RNs and helps Arizona with the healthcare workforce shortage. The East Valley Institute of Technology offers 50 career training programs for Phoenix-area adults and high school students who reside in 11 East Valley school districts, including Chandler, Gilbert, Higley, J.O. Combs, Mesa and Queen Creek.

Children of seasonal workers explore STEM subjects at ASU summer academy

Students at the summer academy, which is hosted by ASU’s School of Transborder Studies, lived in campus dormitories for the week and received a widespread introduction to STEM subjects at university labs. They visited the School of Earth and Space Exploration and saw a duplicate of the 2020 Mars Perseverance rover, which includes an ASU-led mast-mounted camera system that can take 3D images and videos.

USTA: Queen Creek resident represents U.S.; wins international tennis tournament

Queen Creek resident Ros Nideffer, captain of the Women’s 55 and Over team, won the Maureen Connolly Cup with teammates Debbie Nasim of Cardiff, Calif.; Judy Newman of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and Julie Cass of Austin, Texas. The tournament is the tennis equivalent of the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup competitions, with top American tennis players representing their country in the 50-, 55- and 60-and-over age groups.
