“You saw what it did to us,” Queen Creek senior running back Payton Barlow said. “We came out and made some mistakes and didn’t play like we did in the first half. They took the lead before we knew it and we never got it back.”

ALA-Queen Creek was the surprise participant in the Arizona Interscholastic Association's football showcase, The Open, and its reward was playing the top-seed Hamilton, ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation.

“From the start of her playing I just knew she loved it right away,” said her father, Devin Perrine. “It was one of those things that just clicked.”

“Throughout the last six years of being a member of First Tee Phoenix I have grown a lot both as a golfer and as a person," Walden said. "I have met some amazing people along the way, a lot of them will remain close friends of mine forever. The First Tee program has taught me so much more than just how to golf. It’s taught me some very important life skills that I will use every single day for the rest of my life.”

The Nov. 12 game was also Senior Night.

Eastmark High School defeated Florence High School at home on Friday, Oct. 29 to become Central Region Champions.

“She loves it. It’s fun to see her love something so much,” said Natalie Bobik, Blaykli’s mom.

Izzy Mahaffey's love for the sport started when she attended her older sisters’ volleyball games as a child.

Tryouts for Eastmark High School Girls Soccer will be from Monday, Nov. 1 through Thursday, Nov. 4.
