In observance of Veterans Day during the second week of November, QCUSD demonstrates its deep appreciation for veterans by taking time to celebrate and give thanks by holding ceremonies, assemblies and parades.

Early voting results are showing that the Queen Creek Unified School District bond issue is failing for a third time with voters, with only 40% approving the $98 million school bond issue and 60% voting against it. In addition, the local school district's budget override continuation is also failing, with 44% voting yes and 56% voting no.

Both Mesa Community College campus Empty Bowls events are set for Nov. 8 and Nov. 15. For a $10 donation, patrons receive a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted ceramic bowl along with a meal of soup and bread. There will also be a silent auction featuring ceramics by some of the Valley’s most talented artists.

Friends, classmates and community members are invited to gather in support as they honor the life of Preston. Brief remarks will be shared by those close to Preston, followed by a candlelight and luminary vigil led by Combs High School Student Council.

We are doing our children no favor, coddling them into thinking they are successful by altering the standard to which they are measured. Once out of school and in the "real world," they will find out fast that less than adequate work will hold them back from the success they want and desire to achieve.

The state's Department of Education releases letter grades for schools and districts based on Arizona’s A-F accountability system that evaluates how schools and districts perform each school year.

The current school year will be Ask Benji’s largest yet, with 33,737 Arizona high school seniors participating from 185 partner high schools across 30 school districts statewide, including the Queen Creek Unified School District, J.O. Combs Unified School District and Florence Unified School District.

Queen Creek Unified School District is a member of Salt River Project’s Business Demand Response Program and the SRP Champion of Sustainability Award is given to organizations who exhibit and support SRP’s 2035 sustainability goals.

This heartwarming initiative allows members of the community to come together and volunteer at their local schools and celebrate the place that shapes the future of today's youths.
