Crismon High School in Queen Creek has announced its new boys soccer coach and science teacher, Steven Acosta.

Acosta went to Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash., where he competed in both soccer and track and field. During his time on the soccer team they won three conference championships and made it to the Sweet 16 in the national tournament. On the track team they won conference all four years, and Acosta was nominated to the All Decade Team this year.

He has been coaching competitive soccer for 10-plus years. Acosta started out in club soccer where he worked his way up to a technical director. After completing his undergraduate degrees he returned to Whitworth University to be the graduate assistant to the men’s soccer team. During his time there they won conference both years and made it to the Elite Eight in the national tournament.

Acosta has been the varsity boys soccer coach at Mead High School in Spokane for the last six years. During his time there they have taken a bottom tier team to this year's Regional Champions and currently ranked sixth in state.

"Coach Acosta is headed to Arizona to join the Crismon team and we are excited to have him," said Queen Creek Unified School District officials.
