The Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD) recently recognized the March students and employees of the month from Crismon and Eastmark high schools.
Here's what those nominating them had to say:
Students of the Month
- Isabella Merdick-Lopez (Crismon High) - Bella is the perfect example of student leadership. In class, we often talk about integrity and the idea of doing the right thing even when there is no one watching. Even when not in class Bella works hard at making Crismon a great school from the dances to her smile in the halls and her creative headbands that make us all happy. She is always going above and beyond in her academics, extracurriculars and as a leader at Crismon.
- Asher Howard (Crismon High) - Asher is an outstanding student and always puts forth his best effort to every task. In class, he is a role model for his classmates and is excellent at offering peer-support to others. He is the example other athletes should follow. Every day for practice he focuses on developing and fine tuning his craft as an athlete and in the classroom he is the first to answer questions, turn in his assignments and help others around him. Asher is always going above and beyond in athletics, academics and as a leader at Crismon
- Emily Markle (Eastmark High) - Emily has participated at Eastmark High School in swim, basketball, track and field, and now girls flag football. She is a huge student leader on campus academically and as a student athlete. When we host events for future Firebirds, she is one of the first students to come and share her experience on student life, balancing academics and athletics, and being a positive contributor to our campus and community. Emily embodies what it means to be a Firebird and we are so proud to present her with this award.
- Luke Crowther (Eastmark High) - Luke has been heavily involved with the student council for multiple years, planning and providing for an endless array of spirit-filled activities to bring the student body together. He also currently serves as the senior class resident, continuing to exude school pride by bringing our senior class together. Eastmark High School has benefited greatly from Luke’s endless hours of service to the betterment of Eastmark High School.
Employees of the Month
- Michel Wolf - Mr. Wolf is new to our district, but his positive impact has been swift and broadly felt. He is a true student advocate, living his words each and every day. We are so blessed to have Michel Wolf as an Eastmark Firebird.
- Jesse Ayala - Jesse takes such great pride in his work of both maintaining the cleanliness of our campus and also in leading his team to be at their best. His positive attitude and desire to serve is unmatched in our organization. Jesse is well deserving of the award.
- Jenny Trampp - Jenny is currently serving our athletic booster club executive board as the treasurer and previously as our concessions coordinator. Her time as a board member for the past two and half years has enabled our athletic programs to grow through fundraising and providing a tremendous game day experience. We are so grateful for Mrs. Trampp and are proud of all her family has accomplished and contributed to Eastmark.
- Joe Johnston - Although Joe is new to our organization, his impact has been immediately felt. His expertise on school safety coupled with his pleasant and approachable nature make him a wonderful addition to our team. We are blessed to have Joe with QCUSD.
- Jilly Swaninger - Jill brings infectious energy and positivity to everything she does. She is thoughtful, kind, creative and authentic, which allows her to develop strong relationships with students, teachers and staff. Jill leads with humor and grace, and she is a strong advocate for her students and department. She is incredibly kind to her students. She has earned their respect by modeling respect in the classroom. And she shows integrity by always doing what is in the best interest of her students.
- Tammie Gilliland - Ms. Gilliland runs our bookstore with excellent organization, initiative and attention to detail. It was a massive undertaking to take inventory, organize materials and set up all of our systems and processes to checkout materials and pay fees. She is a positive, hard-working, charismatic member of the Crismon High School community. She has an infectious personality and brightens everyone’s day as one of the faces of our Main Office.
- Darcy Small - Darcy Small epitomizes kindness and service to others. Her generosity and thoughtfulness have been constant throughout the year. Ms. Small models Crismon’s core values of character, humility and service, and she clearly believes that parents have an active role in creating school culture along with the staff and students.
- Fern Otero - Fern Otero provides the staff and students of Crismon High School with consistent servant leadership. Staff seek Fern out because they trust him and value his insight. Students seek Fern out because they can tell that he is passionate about helping them succeed. Overall, Fern feels like one of the family every time he steps foot on Crismon’s campus.
