Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD) is just a few days away from ushering in a new school year. Meet the Teacher night is on Thursday, July 18, with the first day of school coming up on Monday, July 22.
The 2024–2025 school year at QCUSD will welcome 15,000 students to the district's 14 schools, with an additional elementary school currently under construction.
This school year, QCUSD will celebrate an expanded group of its graduating seniors with Crismon High School’s (CHS) first-ever graduating class. CHS, which opened in July 2022, will now proudly send off those students who began their journey at the district's newest high school.
Newell Barney College Prep (NBCP) will enter its first year as a college preparatory school, offering students who attend a chance to earn up to four high school credits while in junior high. NBCP is focused on leadership development, STEM classes and an accelerated curriculum, aiming to give students an environment where they are able to excel.
Mountain Trail Academy, QCUSD’s 10th elementary school, is now under construction and is set to open for the 2025–2026 school year. The school facilities division has provided funding and land for this construction project due to the continued growth within QCUSD.
District students can look forward to their career and technical education (CTE) classes that are tailored to the student’s specific career field of interest.
All QCUSD students have the opportunity to engage in participatory budgets through the Lead out Loud (LOL) program. Each QCUSD school is allocated funds and students vote on how the funds should be spent. LOL encourages leadership and finance skills, and is kicked off with a huge conference at the beginning of the school year.
QCUSD high schools will also present musicals at the end of every second and fourth quarter. So follow CHS, Eastmark High School and Queen Creek High School to see what musicals they will perform this school year and stay tuned to the Queen Creek Sun Times for more district news throughout the school year, including honoring Students of the Month.
