Inaugural class induction of Poston Butte High School Athletics Hall of Fame happening Jan. 5

During halftime of the boys basketball game that begins at 7:45 p.m. There will be a luncheon at 4 p.m. in the school's culinary banquet rooms for all four inductees and their families.

Poston Butte High School in San Tan Valley will have its inaugural class induction for the Poston Butte High School Athletics Hall of Fame on Thursday, Jan. 5 during halftime of the boys basketball game against Greenway High School.

The game begins at 7:45 p.m., but there will be a luncheon at 4 p.m. in the school's culinary banquet rooms for all four inductees and their families, according to Dr. Darren Johnson, Ed. D., athletic director and assistant principal at Poston Butte High School in the Florence Unified School District.

Inductees are:

  • Chris Musselman, a football player from the Class of 2015. He was an All State linebacker and team captain. "Chris was a standout player on and off the field," said Johnson.
  • Nolan McNeil, a baseball player from the Class of 2018. He was Conference Player of the Year and All State Position Player. "Nolan helped lay the foundation for what the program has become today," Johnson said.
  • Lindsay Lopez, a softball player from the Class of 2019. She was All Region, All Conference and Pinal County Softball Player of the Year. Lopez also won  Arizona Softball Coaches Association All-Star MVP in 2019. "Lindsay is truly one of the most accomplished athletes in the history of PBHS," said Johnson.
  • Jeff Cox, cross country coach from 2010 to 2013. "Mr. Cox increased the participation and success of PBHS cross country in each of his seasons as a coach," Johnson said. "Mr. Cox energized the program and today it thrives because of his efforts. As a coach, Mr. Cox exemplified what it means to be 'Bronco Strong.'" 

Poston Butte High School, which opened in 2009, is located at 32375 N. Gantzel Road.
