Newly hired police officers with the new Queen Creek Police Department were a hit last Saturday night, handing out candy at the town's annual Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 16.

Queen Creek Public Safety PIO Sonu Wasu said this year's event was a big success.

"While we don't have hard attendance numbers to share, it's safe to say there was at least a 20 percent increase in the number of people who showed up," Wasu said.

She said the event featured 50 trunks this year and no major incidents, assuring it was a safe event for all in attendance on Ellsworth Road in the Town Center. The event included a variety of activities like carnival games, escape rooms, Nerf battle zone and entertainment.
