Earth Month in Queen Creek: Cardboard box car movie night slated for April 7

Learn about recycling, purchase food truck food and enjoy "WALL•E" on the big screen and create a cardboard box car at home or school and bring it to the event to learn about recycling. Town officials are asking everyone to park in designated parking stalls at Founders' Park, then walk with your cardboard box cars, chairs and blankets to the multipurpose field. Vehicles will not be allowed on the grass (this is not a "drive-in" movie).

Create a box car from cardboard and other recyclable materials and bring it to a free movie night at Founders' Park in Queen Creek next month.

Town of Queen Creek Environmental Services presents a movie at the park on Friday, April 7 as part of its Earth Month festivities. Learn about recycling, purchase food truck food and enjoy "WALL•E" on the big screen and create a cardboard box car at home or school and bring it to the event to learn about recycling.

The goal of your cardboard box car is to make it as recyclable as possible — using only recyclable materials if you can. After the movie in the park, you can break down your box and toss it in your blue trash cart, according to Queen Creek officials. If you use non-recyclable materials for your box car, they must be separated from the vehicle and disposed of in your trash cart.

This movie night is free to attend. Food trucks will arrive at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will start at sunset, about 7:15 p.m.

Don't have a cardboard box car? Bring a chair or blanket to Founders' Park, located at 22407 S. Ellsworth Road.

Town officials are asking everyone to park in designated parking stalls at Founders' Park, then walk with your cardboard box cars, chairs and blankets to the multipurpose field. Vehicles will not be allowed on the grass (this is not a "drive-in" movie). Overflow parking will be available if there are a large number of registrants.
