Arizona accounts for 6.9% of robocalls, among worst in the country

Despite the recent FCC deadline for STIR/SHAKEN implementation, Americans have seen a rise in robocalls in recent months. According to recent stats from Truecaller, the world’s leading caller ID and spam blocking app, Americans received over 11 million spam calls from March to September 2021 alone with Arizona accounting for 6.9 percent of those calls, among the worst in the country.

More stats from Truecallers findings on scam and spam callers:

  • Vermont tops the list as most spammed with a 10.28% share of all spam in the U.S. by volume. This is followed by Arizona (6.90%), Idaho (6.69%), Nebraska (6.42%) and West Virginia (6.30%).
  • New York which has only a 3.06% share of all spam by volume. This was followed by Louisiana (3.29%), Massachusetts (3.64%), District of Columbia (3.68%) and New Jersey (3.77%). 
  • The number of Americans victim to phone scams has been steadily increasing year over year: 22.1 million Americans in 2017, 24.9 million in 2018, 43 million in 2019, 56 million in 2020 and now 59.49 million in 2021.
  • Americans lost a total of $29.8 billion in the past 12 months alone.
