Twisted Sugar opening this summer in Queen Creek

“We love keeping that same small-town charm in each of our stores, while bringing our famous treats and drinks nationwide,” said Julianne Borden, vice president of business development and marketing for Twisted Sugar.

Residents of Queen Creek may soon have another way to satisfy their sweet tooth as early as this summer. Twisted Sugar, a specialty soda shop with locations throughout the United States and Arizona, is slated to open this summer in Queen Creek and possibly break ground for another store in San Tan Valley.

The shop offers a variety of goodies for those who enjoy something sweet. Their cookies are baked fresh daily and feature a variety of unique combinations including their namesake cookie topped with coconut frosting and a lime wedge, a peanut butter Nutella cookie, and a banana cream cookie among others.

“Our Banana Cream Pie cookie is a very vocal fan favorite,” said Julianne Borden, vice president of business development and marketing for Twisted Sugar. “Think a graham cracker cookie base with banana custard frosting and creamy whipped topping. Pair that with our Bombshell drink – Mountain Dew with grapefruit, pomegranate, and fresh lime – and you've got an award-winning combination.”

The Bombshell drink she mentions is part of their other offerings which include specialty sodas where you can create your own concoction or Twisters, their version of a milkshake. Their sodas begin with a base of your choice – including Mountain Dew, Mug root beer, Coke and Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, lemonade and more – followed by add-ins such as maraschino cherries, peach puree, pineapple, coconut, etc. If this all sounds a little overwhelming, no need to fret. Twisted Sugar's menu also includes a variety of options they've created including flavors such as Summer Lovin, The Bop, Lime Rickey, and Bengal's Blood. With so many different base sodas and add-ins, the possibilities to delight your taste buds are almost endless.

Their Twisters are similar to their sodas where you can create your own or choose a flavor they've created. They start with an ice cream or fruit-flavored Dole whip base and your choice of add-ins. For those early mornings or mid-afternoon slumps, they also offer Twisters made with Rockstar energy drinks, appropriately named Twisted Energy.

Those with special dietary needs don't need to miss out on the fun either; Twisted Sugar also carries the Num Gourmet Desserts line for those following a low-carb, gluten-free or sugar-free lifestyle.

Twisted Sugar first opened its doors in 2017, with a little pink shop in Utah, Borden said. They now have locations all over the country, including California, Nevada, Washington and as far east as South Carolina, with no plans of stopping anytime soon.

“We love keeping that same small-town charm in each of our stores, while bringing our famous treats and drinks nationwide,” added Borden.

When they open, Twisted Sugar will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and close at 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The stores are closed on Sundays. Borden is excited to be moving forward with the Queen Creek and San Tan Valley stores; she said their loyal customers who live in these areas currently make the trek to Gilbert when they have a hankering for what Twisted Sugar has to offer.

“We're ecstactic to finally give them a store closer to home,” she said. “We've done a few events in the area and have always been blown away by the local support. We cannot wait to include the residents in this area as part of our #twistedfam.”
