The Foundry Gym opens in Queen Creek

“Trends and fads are a huge part of the fitness industry, but there’s a lack of transparency in terms of just how effective most of them are,” Co-owner Brittany Kohnke said. “Rather than focus on fads that may only work at first, we concentrate on quality techniques and training exercises that lead to lasting, long-term results.”

The Foundry Gym has opened in Queen Creek, giving Southeast Valley residents who’ve lived in something of a “fitness desert” a close, convenient place to shed pounds, build strength and forge connections with fellow community members.

Located at 18625 S. 187th Place, Unit B108, The Foundry enjoyed a soft opening April 1 ahead of its grand opening celebration slated from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 30. The gym, co-owned by Will O’Connell and Brittany Kohnke, is one of few fitness studios in the area and focuses on time-tested workouts and techniques, rather than trends and fads that do little as far as long-term results.

“Trends and fads are a huge part of the fitness industry, but there’s a lack of transparency in terms of just how effective most of them are,” Kohnke said. “Rather than focus on fads that may only work at first, we concentrate on quality techniques and training exercises that lead to lasting, long-term results.”

O’Connell and Kohnke offer a combination of small group classes and personal training sessions to help guests achieve these outcomes, and The Foundry has a variety of membership levels to accommodate varying needs.

“Some people get more out of group classes, where they get encouragement, accountability and a sense of community from their peers,” said O’Connell. “Others may feel more comfortable having a few personal training sessions before they try a group environment, and that’s perfectly fine, too. We’re here to help you figure out where you’re most comfortable. Then, we can help you identify your fitness goals and develop a plan to help you achieve them.”

Area residents looking to get a glimpse of The Foundry may stop in now or during the gym’s grand opening celebration April 30. In addition to a chance to check out the space, grand opening attendees will enjoy raffles, food trucks, retail vendors and other fanfare.
