San Tan Valley Home Depot opening Jan. 12

Over the past decade, Skyline Ranch Marketplace has been developed differently than the original plans for the shopping center. So while residents and local contractors have doubted if a location for The Home Depot in San Tan Valley would ever be built, they can now rest assured that the big-box home improvement retailer will finally open its doors to the community this week.

The long wait is over as The Home Depot in Skyline Ranch Marketplace on West Hunt Highway and North Gary Road in San Tan Valley will finally open Thursday, Jan. 12.

Last April, Pinal County officials released an announcement that crews would begin building San Tan Valley's newest Home Depot location with plans to have the site open by November 2022. The project experienced delays like many businesses trying to open after the pandemic and resulting supply chain issues. Plans to develop Skyline Ranch Marketplace with retail tenants, clothing outlets, restaurants and other businesses have been in the works since the early 2000s. However, when the economy took a turn, the San Tan Valley was hit hard and saw many developments come to a halt, but not Home Depot.

This San Tan Valley Home Depot, located at 1400 W. Hunt Highway, will be similar to the Queen Creek location, about 30 minutes away on South Power Road. Home Depot shoppers can find an expanded appliance, kitchen and flooring showroom, large equipment rentals, propane exchange, and truck and tool rentals.

The 108,000-square-foot home improvement store will employ roughly 170 associates, with close to half of those associates being new to company, according to a spokesperson with The Home Depot.

She said the new San Tan Valley store has several features they’re rolling out "as part of our strategic investments to enhance the customer and associate experience. It features an optimized, more flexible checkout and customer service area, specialty showrooms with new merchandising displays and layouts, a large garden center, a tool rental center and amazing new storage areas for our customers’ Buy Online Pickup In Store orders."
