Bashas’ to give away free donuts tomorrow, Oct. 18

Because cooler fall weather has us thinking about comfort foods, Bashas’ bakery team decided to give away free donuts this Monday, Oct. 18, between 6 and 8 a.m.

Because cooler fall weather has us thinking about comfort foods, Bashas’ bakery team decided to give away free donuts this Monday, Oct. 18, between 6 and 8 a.m.

They wanted to mark the fall season and celebrate the new “Better@Bashas” campaign, which prominently features its most popular items throughout the store that make them stand out from the competition – like the made-daily-from-scratch Bashas’ donut.

Bashas’ is the only supermarket in Arizona that makes donuts from scratch every morning. In each store, a team of skilled bakers gets to work at 3 a.m. each morning to make nearly five dozen different creations every morning. The grocer offers 59 different donut flavors and varieties that are available year-round, including maple-iced donuts that are perfect for the fall season. Bashas’ regularly introduces new donut flavors for a limited time in June for National Donut Day and in December for the holidays.

Arizonans who visit a Bashas’ bakery case between 6 and 8 a.m. tomorrow, Oct. 18, will receive one free donut from the bakery (No purchase necessary. One free donut per customer during this two-hour timeframe only on Oct. 18).

The grocer’s commitment to freshness and quality have made its donuts one of its most popular foods, especially because they are a great value, priced at only 75 cents each or $6.99 per dozen. On Fridays, when customers purchase a dozen donuts at Bashas’, they get an additional half-dozen for free.

Bashas’ currently bakes up to 59 different flavors of donuts. Ranging from the tried-and-true originals to the wacky and unexpected, customers know that they won’t leave the bakery case disappointed. Among the choices  Bashas’ offers:

Ring Donuts: Perhaps the most universally recognized donut, these delicious classics with a hole in the middle are light and airy and come decadently enrobed in more than a dozen different toppings to suit any mood.

Bar Donuts: Similar to their ring-shaped cousins, bar donuts are elongated versions of the ring relatives, which means an extra bite or two to savor. They come coated in equally delicious flavors.

Birdseye Donuts: Named for the beautiful dollop of color at its center, this filled creation comes in two varieties: crimson cherry and caramel-colored apple.

Cinnamon-Fried: Just as the name suggests, gentle ribbons of deliciously warm cinnamon run through these delights, as they are balanced with a sweet sugar glaze, maple icing or chocolate icing.

Cinnamon Twists: For these signature donuts, mouthwatering spiral bars of cinnamon-swirled dough are wound together and either glazed or cinnamon-sugared to perfection.

Fritters: Fluffy and full of flavor. That’s the best way to describe these decadent, home-made creations, bursting with fruit flavor in every bite. At Bashas’, apple-, cherry- and blueberry-flavored fritters are made fresh every day.

Fruit-filled Flips: Bashas’ donuts are so good that pies are wanting in on the action. These luscious fruit-filled apple, cherry and cream cheese delights make mouths water and tummies rumble.

Filled Bismarks: While some say a donut without a hole just isn’t a donut, Bashas’ bakers say it’s a donut with exponential flavor potential. The jelly- or custard-filled Bismarks are loaded with flavor and come in a range of varieties.

Croissant Donuts: The latest donut trend marries flakey croissants with chewy dough to create the ultimate accompaniment to a morning coffee or tea.

Cake Donuts: Crumbly and buttery, cake donuts may be denser than their yeast-leavened ring counterparts, but they’re just delicious and delightfully “dunkable” in coffee or milk, and they come in a variety of flavors.

Better@Bashas’ is a new brand campaign rooted in the supermarkets’ dedication to better groceries at a better value for customers. It leans into what makes Bashas’ an iconic grocery store in Arizona including baking from scratch, cutting meats in store, and getting fresh produce from local farms. This integrated broadcast and digital media campaign is designed to resonate with established shoppers while introducing the unique Bashas’ experience to new audiences.

Whether it’s stopping in during the morning commute to pick up a dozen donuts for a work team, getting an afternoon pick-me-up snack, or bringing in donuts for a church or social gathering on the weekend, customers know that every bite will be as delicious as the first.

While the bakery case is always well-stocked, customers can pre-order donuts to ensure that large quantities or special flavors are available. Shoppers can call or visit their neighborhood Bashas’ bakery to place advance orders.
