Amadio Ranch makes debut at Jan. 8 Queen Creek Family Market

The Queen Creek Family Market makes its 2022 debut tomorrow morning, Jan. 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Queen Creek Library, at 21802 S. Ellsworth Road, with more than 100 vendors.

Laveen farmers Eric Amadio and his wife, Christina, will make their debut tomorrow morning at the Queen Creek Family Market.

"We bought the farm in Laveen 12 years ago and have been actively farming it for 10 years," said Eric Amadio, owner of Amadio Ranch. "People have been telling us for years that we needed to come check out what Queen Creek had going on. We finally made time in December and absolutely loved what we saw. The small town family attitude and spirit was evident. Lots of happy people and so friendly. I looked at my wife and said, 'these are our people.' The staff at the Queen Creek Family Market were also fantastic and accommodating to deal with."

"People can expect to find the absolute freshest organic fruits and vegetables anywhere at the market," Amadio said. "We take a lot of pride in what we grow and it shows. They can expect to see happy smiling staff members. We work with local high schools to give teens valuable work experience and skills. You can also expect to find a wide variety of our famous pies and other baked goods made in our farm kitchen that are so popular. Our local raw honeys and new exotic Hawaiian honeys are super popular. As are our wide variety of jams, jellies, pickles, salsas and other preserves.

"All our fruits and vegetables are seasonal based on what is able to be grown here in the Valley," he continued. "Winter (November to April) is leafy green season with lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, beets, chard, spinach, bok choy, green onions, turnip greens, mustard greens, collard greens, kohlrabi, celery, carrots, etc. Summer season is when the sweet edibles show up, like tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, peas, green beans, okra, potatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, sweet corn, peaches, plums, apricots, apples, grapes, etc."

Amadio Ranch is longtime partners at the Uptown Farmers Market in central Phoenix.

"For the last four years, we have run a market in Ahwatukee and have been at lots of other markets all over town. In addition, we run the Laveen Community Farmers Market here at our farm for a number of years. We want more than anything to communicate that it's not just our farm, as soon as you contribute to our effort it's part your farm too. We love to interact with our supporters. So much of what we do today is due to suggestions from customers. We view the farm as a partnership with the community. We aren't wealthy people, all that the farm is, everything we do is because of the direct support and love of average folks who are willing to help us keep promoting the heritage farming lifestyle here in the Valley."

Pets are always welcomed at the market, there's plenty of free parking, food trucks and shopping. Remaining market dates for the first half of 2022 are Jan. 22, Feb. 5, Feb. 19, March 5, March 19, April 9 and April 23.
