ALDI, Fry's add to grocery shopping options around town

"It is great to have two new grocers for residents to choose from in Queen Creek. Variety and choice are important, and the grocery stores that we have in the community truly complement each other, not only with the products they offer, but in the areas of town that they are located," said Doreen Cott, economic development director for the Town of Queen Creek. "Keeping sales tax dollars in Queen Creek is important."

There are more grocery shopping options in Queen Creek as both ALDI and Fry's opened locations this month around town.

Fry's Marketplace opened last week at the corner of South Ellsworth and East Riggs roads and ALDI opened earlier this month at 20229 S. Ellsworth Road.

"Keeping sales tax dollars in Queen Creek is important. When residents shop locally their dollars support the community in which they live. Sales tax dollars help fund community amenities such as parks, trails, recreation programs and public safety services."

Councilmember Dawn Oliphant agreed.

"It is great that the residents have more choices to where they shop for their groceries in Queen Creek," said Oliphant. "More options for shopping helps with the tax revenue and then in turn that money is spent back into the community with building of roads, parks and public safety."

Lines were long, parking lots were full and residents were also excited about the new shopping options.

"I think it is fantastic as the town is only getting bigger," Queen Creek resident Lisa McCarthy said.

A new Costco is being built at the northwest corner of Queen Creek and Ellsworth roads to top off the array of shopping options around town.

"It is exciting to see so many new businesses choosing to invest in Queen Creek," Cott said. "Adding new amenities like shopping and dining options offers choice and convenience for Queen Creek residents and visitors, and helps keep sales tax dollars in the community."
